Best Healthy Banana Dessert Recipe Ever!

This healthy banana dessert recipe has all the health benefits of bananas with the great taste of dessert!

If your looking for the best healthy dessert recipe ever this just might be it! Even if you don't like fresh bananas there's a good chance you might like this banana "ice cream". I feel a little guilty calling it ice cream since there's no cream to be found but it's the closest description I can find and it tastes just like a guilt inducing treat.

This recipe calls for just three ingredients, takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and in no way tastes "healthy"!

Best Healthy Banana Dessert Recipe Ever:
Banana "Ice Cream"

I had seen the recipe quite a few times before I tried it and really didn't think a recipe with so few ingredients and no added sugar could be quite this good! I'm also not normally a banana lover but now I wish I had tried it way sooner!

Makes 3-4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe medium sized bananas frozen
  • ¼ cup unsweetened orange or pineapple juice (optional, depending on consistency of mixture)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Add the ingredients to a food processor and whip for 4 to 5 minutes.

Chef's Tips

Peel the bananas and put in a zip lock bag before freezing to make the process quick and easy. Do not let the frozen bananas thaw to much before using or you'll end up with a soupy mess!

The ideal time for the bananas to be frozen is 2 – 3 hours; if they've been frozen longer you may have to add a ¼ cup of liquid such as unsweetened orange or pineapple juice.

If making a double batch process separately.

Leftovers can be frozen.

Variations

You can add unsweetened coco powder or two tbsp of peanut butter or both for a variation. Other variations – a pinch of cinnamon, ½ cup of strawberries, 1 tsp honey or maple syrup, top with walnuts. To turn this into a large snack or a healthy mini meal you can add chocolate protein powder to the mix.

Try serving this atop a whole grain waffle or pancake for a Sunday treat breakfast.

There is also new research information out on something called "resistant starch" a long story but exciting information for carb lovers that I'll include in a future article. The short of it is though that bananas are one of the best sources of resistant starch and resistant starch is very healthy for you and can even help you lose weight.

After researching it extensively I'm calling it the miracle starch!

Based on the resistant starch information and the health benefits of bananas which include a good dose of fiber and vitamin B-6 I'd say bananas are a very good part of a healthy diet. And if they taste this good I'm all in!

Hope you enjoy the best healthy banana dessert recipe ever!
